Shared virtual switches
A virtual switch demonstrates shared retained state without hardware. Use two controller clients on the same server and home-channel group. The Remocon demo convention uses #$switch; a change publishes the new switch state and subscribers update their displays.
The public Remocon app may expose a switch view with several controls. Open it in two browsers on the same network, change one switch, and observe the other. Available controls and quotas depend on the service.
For a reproducible source-based exercise, use group LED control with the local workbench. A retained state lets a newly subscribing client receive the last value; it is not a record of each previous action or proof that a physical device acted. Use the JS 7.2.0 API and exact state shape expected by your receivers.
