A virtual device without hardware

A virtual device publishes a name, UI description, and state, then receives commands addressed to its CID. It lets you exercise discovery and control before connecting a board.

In the workbench repository, install with npm ci, start the local environment with npm run dev, and run npm run demo:device in another terminal. Use the printed local server address. Search, select the announced CID, send a command, and inspect both the device console and received state.

The optional Remocon Virtual view can represent a bulb or controls described by strings such as ON,OFF,Toggle or A,B,C,D. These strings describe application controls; they do not implement command behavior themselves. If that public UI is unavailable, the local demo provides the source-based path.

See CID LED control for #search, #notify, @$name, @$ui, and @$state, and distinguish a direct command from a shared channel publication.
