Runnable example bundle

Download the verified 7.2.0 source ZIP. It includes four chat apps and one WebRTC app, exact IOSignal dependencies, lockfiles, and regression tests. The upstream source is iosignal-examples; GitHub main can change independently of this bundle.

Install and run

Prepare Node.js 22.16 or later and npm. Extract the ZIP, then:

cd iosignal-examples-7.2.0/iosignal_vanilla-chat
npm ci
npm ls iosignal
npm run dev

Confirm that npm ls reports 7.2.0. npm ci follows the included lockfile. If you already opened the example directory in your terminal, omit cd.

Alternatively, clone the upstream repository and record its commit and installed version:

git clone https://github.com/remocons/iosignal-examples.git
cd iosignal-examples/iosignal_vanilla-chat
git rev-parse HEAD
npm ci
npm ls iosignal
npm run dev

Confirm success

Open http://localhost:5175 in two tabs on the same computer. Wait for both to show ready and a CID. Send a message and confirm it appears in the other tab. The channel is openchat and the server is ws://localhost:7779. Stop with Ctrl+C.

npm run dev starts both the web and messaging servers. localhost refers to the device running the browser; see connection environments before using another phone or PC.

Choose an example

FolderWeb portWebSocket portUse
iosignal_vanilla-chat51757779Framework-free starting point
iosignal_react-chat51737777React lifecycle
iosignal_svelte-chat51747778Svelte state and lifecycle
iosignal_vanilla-chat_CDN51767780CDN browser import
iosignal_webrtc51807781Video-call signaling

Run the same installation/development commands in each folder. Servers are independent: open two tabs of the same example to chat. The CDN app still requires local npm dependencies and internet access for its browser import.

For Vanilla, read package.json / package-lock.json, vite.config.js (ports), main.js (client flow), index.html (UI), and server.js (standalone signaling).

Build and preview

Stop the development server. In terminal 1 run npm run server. In terminal 2:

npm run build
npm run preview

Open the printed preview web URL in two tabs. Build and preview do not start the IOSignal server. Stop both terminals with Ctrl+C. External deployment requires a reachable server and TLS configuration.

Verified baseline

On 2026-10-18, all five apps built with 7.2.0. Four chat tests passed two-client bidirectional messaging and reconnection. Five WebRTC integration tests passed.

After running npm ci in each app, reproduce browser tests from iosignal_webrtc:

npx playwright install chromium
npm test
npm run test:chats

Alternatively set CHROME_PATH to an installed Chrome executable. Tests start and stop local servers; CDN needs internet. WebRTC uses simulated capture devices. Physical boards, real capture devices, Safari/iOS, different internet networks, and TURN relay are outside this verification.
